Assistant Commissioner Peter McKechnie is the Director Regions South & West at the NSW Rural Fire Service. AC McKechnie joined the NSW Rural Fire Service in 1992 and has moved through the ranks to this position.

AC McKechnie leads Regional and District teams to plan for, prepare and mitigate the impact of bush fires and other emergencies on the community. Previously AC McKechnie has filled the role of Manager State Operations & Aviation after serving in a number of Regional and District roles. AC McKechnie has also performed senior operational roles within Australia and overseas.

AC McKechnie has been awarded the National Medal, Commissioners Commendation and the NSW RFS Long Service Medal.
